Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 23, 2026
In short: Your thoughts are stored on your device. When you speak to Neu, your voice is transcribed and your text is routed through our secure infrastructure (Cloudflare) and processed by OpenAI's API. Neither Cloudflare nor OpenAI retains your data or uses it to train their models. We can't read your entries.
1. Who We Are
Neurogram is a voice-based personal introspection application developed by an independent developer based in Switzerland. This policy explains how the App handles your information.
For any questions about this policy, contact us at neurogram2026@gmail.com.
2. Data We Collect
Neurogram is designed with a privacy-first architecture. Here is what we collect and what we don't:
Data stored locally on your device only:
- Your voice transcriptions (including original transcripts)
- AI-generated deposits (titles, synthesis, insights, tags, and type-specific analysis)
- Replay narratives generated from your deposits
- Weekly reflections
- Conversation history with Neu (Ask Neu)
- App preferences and settings
Data we do NOT collect:
- We do not create user accounts
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or personal identifiers
- We do not track your location
- We do not use advertising or behavioral analytics SDKs
- We do not store any of your data on our servers
3. Voice Input & Audio Processing
Neurogram records your voice when you interact with the App. Your audio is routed through our secure proxy infrastructure hosted on Cloudflare and sent to OpenAI's Whisper API to convert speech to text. Important details:
- The audio is used solely for transcription and is not stored by us, Cloudflare, or OpenAI
- Audio data is not used for model training by any party
- The resulting text transcription is stored locally on your device
- No audio recordings are retained after transcription is complete
4. How AI Processing Works
After your voice is transcribed, data is sent through our secure proxy infrastructure (Cloudflare) to OpenAI's API for the following purposes:
- Deposit processing: Your transcribed text and recent deposit summaries are sent to generate a structured deposit — including a title, synthesis, tags, and type-specific insights (such as emotion analysis or idea articulation). This happens each time you create a new deposit.
- Replay generation: When you use the Replay feature, your stored transcripts and deposit data for the selected time period are sent to generate a curated narrative of your most significant moments. Neu selects key phrases from your original words and weaves a connecting thread between them.
- Weekly reflections: Your deposits from the current week are sent to generate a weekly synthesis, including an insight, a direction, and a question.
- Ask Neu: When you ask Neu a question, your question and relevant deposit data are sent to generate a personalized response grounded in your collected thoughts.
No device identifiers, personal metadata, or information beyond what is listed above is sent.
Important details about this processing:
- Your data passes through Cloudflare's network in transit but is not stored or logged by Cloudflare
- Data sent to OpenAI's API is not used to train their models, in accordance with OpenAI's API data usage policy
- OpenAI may temporarily process the data to generate a response, after which it is not retained for training purposes
- OpenAI processes data under their API Data Usage Policy and Enterprise Privacy commitments, which provide protections for user data consistent with or exceeding those described in this Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not retain API inputs or outputs for training purposes and maintains industry-standard security practices

5. Data Storage & Security
All your personal data (voice transcriptions, deposits, replay narratives, weekly reflections, conversation history) is stored exclusively on your device's local storage. We do not operate servers that store user content. All data transmitted between the App and our infrastructure is encrypted using TLS.
This means:
- If you delete the app, all your data is permanently deleted
- If you lose your device, your data cannot be recovered
- No one — including us — can access your data remotely
6. Subscriptions & Payments
Neurogram uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. When you subscribe, RevenueCat processes your purchase status through Apple's App Store. RevenueCat does not have access to your voice transcriptions, deposits, conversation history, or any personal content within the App. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.
7. Your Rights & Control
You have full control over your data at all times:
- View your data: All your deposits, transcriptions, and reflections are visible directly in the App
- Delete all data: Use "Erase All Data" in Settings to permanently remove everything, or simply delete the App
8. Age Requirement
Neurogram is intended for use by adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used the App, deleting the App will remove all locally stored data.
9. Third-Party Services
Neurogram uses the following third-party services:
- OpenAI API — for AI text generation, voice transcription, deposit processing, replay generation, and weekly reflections. OpenAI processes data in accordance with their API Data Usage Policy, which ensures that API inputs and outputs are not used for model training. Their privacy policy is available at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Cloudflare — for secure request routing and infrastructure protection. Your data passes through Cloudflare's network in transit but is not stored or logged. Their privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
- RevenueCat — for subscription management. RevenueCat processes your purchase status through Apple but does not have access to your voice transcriptions, deposits, or AI data. Their privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy
We do not use advertising networks, behavioral analytics services, crash reporting tools, or any other third-party SDKs that collect user data.
We confirm that all third-party services used by Neurogram provide data protections consistent with or exceeding those described in this Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
